Looks fun tho, I knew the event when I saw a post from Facebook. Was a big fan of Hot Air Balloons since I was young, so without a doubt, I asked my friends to come with me, and ended up enjoying the beautiful view of the place. Solid!

Before this Festival became the biggest sports event in the Philippines, the annual festival was started then by Mina Gabor, a Tourism Secretary, together with three of her friends and a hot air balloon pilot in 1994. It was remembered that a massive eruption occurred in Mt. Pinatubo. Three years after that, the hot air balloon festival then aimed to jump start Pampanga’s economy. Also one objective of the event was to position the province, as a center of aviation in the Philippines.

This festival is an annual event, which happens between January and February that takes place at Clark Freeport Zone, specifically at Omni Aviation Complex. Multi-colored hot air balloons flying around the field are the main features of the annual festival. This longest-running sports and aviation festivity won’t be a success without the numbers of wide colorful and hot air balloons. Hot air balloons that mesmerized the people’s eyes and hooked up the attention of the people.

Can’t help but look up at the skies once the event starts. I no longer can take my eyes off the skies. It’s just too relaxing and too fun to watch. Worth the effort to travel from Manila to here!

But do you think the event ends up with just the blue skies and the fascinating hot air balloons in the sky? Stop right there! Because there is more to see, more to experience and more to enjoy with your friends and family!

Simply spectacular! In my opinion, it’s a one-of-a-kind festival that should be everyone’s Philippine travel bucket list. For the first time in my life, I experienced a hot air balloon festival that filled the skies of Pampanga with colors and life. And there was so many fascinating hot air balloon designs on this festival, too. From spaceship to movie themes. My favorite was the Darth Vader Balloon.

How to get there?

This event is yearly held at Clark Freeport Zone. There are ways to get there.

OPTION 1: MANILA TO CLARK BY CAR

Via NLEX. If you want to travel at your own pace by bringing your car, you can drive along the length of NLEX until you reach Dau Exit. Pay the toll and make a left turn going to Angeles City. Continue driving until you reach the point where you should make a right turn going to Clark. This option is perfect for those who like to make a stopover at Angeles City.

From Cubao or Pasay terminal, take a Dagupan-bound bus. Alight at Dau-Mabalacat Bus Terminal in Pampanga. Take a short walk to MacArthur Highway. From there, you can either take the jeepney or hire a tricycle. The jeepney or the tricycle can get you directly to the Clark Gate. Ride a jeepney or take a taxi to your hotel or to the attraction you want to visit.

OPTION 2: Via NLEX-SCTEX.

From NLEX, continue driving until you reach the exit leading to SCTEX. Decide the best road option for you based on your itinerary: Clark South (Exit) Interchange is located near the Clark Main Gate, while Clark North (Exit) Interchange is near Nayong Pilipino.

The good thing about bringing your own car is that you can do stopover and restroom breaks whenever you need to. In our case, we went further north to have our breakfast at PTT Station’s Café Amazon along SCTEX northbound lane in Bamban, Tarlac. But the interesting part aside from the drinks (try the Iced Thai Milk Tea) and the pastries (I love the Mango Torte and Revel Bar) is PTT’s Restroom 20.

“It’s an 11/10 for me. Me and my friends enjoyed the event, although it only happens once a year. Small amount of time, but many memories were shared together. Masaya! Will probably visit again for the next year’s event!”

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
